Interview with visionary and founder of Marc Antoine Barrois Paris perfumes.
If Marc-Antoine Barrois Paris was a song/poem, what song/poem would it be?
It would be a Gymnopedie of Erik Satie... This is where music and poesy meet.
What / who is your greatest inspiration?
We have not an inspiration but an aspiration to create beautiful elegant perfumes.
What is the most beautiful memory in connection with perfumes?
My mind is full of beautiful perfumed memories but I would recall two that are important to me now :
- smelling Arpège of Lanvin makes me think forever about my grandmother and I can follow someone in the street for a few meters just to sniff it and think about her
- working at Hermès a few years ago with Jean-Paul Gaultier, leather was a big part of my job and I recall this so refined scent that we can find somehow in my perfumes I believe.
What smell/note triggers that memory?
The scent of leather and most animalic smell.
What does perfume mean to you?
It's a signature... an olfactive signature ;)
Are you planning to visit Slovenia in the future? :)
I should!
